two years ago i went to see an exhibition, where pictures of jessica dimmock's 'ninth floor' were shown. a documentary she made about a group of junkies living together in an new york apartment on the ninth floor. it was a small exhibition, but i stayed there for more then two hours. i couldn't stop looking at those photo's. i was drawn to them.
dimmock lived with those junkies for more then a year, following their every step.
she only used the lightning that was given to her. she never used a flash or any other equipment. it was just her and her canon. capturing those people while trowing away their lives.
up until this day, these photo's are one of the most beautiful photo's i have ever seen. and i love jessica dimmock's passion for capturing realness and rawness. and telling us a story.
